I bought this as my first kayak, and it is larger than I envisioned, but very sturdy and I feel like this will last me for many years to come. When it was delivered, it had a fairly large gouge out of the front hull, but nothing that I felt would be detrimental to it's performance (however I did watch some videos on how to repair scratches). I've been out on it once so far this season but plan to be out several more times in the near future! Felt this was a very good kayak for the price!

I bought this during the COVID-19 lock down. Luckily Dick's had the storefront pickup.
I had done some kayaking and rowing previously, but had moved on to using personal watercraft and my small outboard boat. Even with the COVID-19 lockdown, I have access to a lake. I had the desire to get some more exercise, so I thought about getting a cheap \"beater\" kayak.
I found the Mustang 120 paddled quite well and have been impressed for the price. I just had a nice 2.5 paddle this evening and it was very comfortable for the hour that I spent. It is also relatively light to carry to the lake. I am 6'3 and 250 lbs and found the kayak to be big enough and the cockpit easy to get in and out of.
I had always associated Pelican with those slow paddle boats, but I looked at their kayaks and I felt it was worth the gamble considering the low price. I initially thought the Pelican kayaks were cheap compared to the roto-molded types. Being somewhat stir-crazy, I investigated the sheet forming vs rotomolded technology and the Pelican sheet forming seems better than standard roto-molded polyethylene.
I would trade the \"cargo\" area for a standard deck that sheds water and I would rather a little more of a V hull. However, these are minor points. Considering the price, I am quite pleased.
One additional note, Dick's store front pickup during COVID-19 worked well. As far as transporting the kayak, I put it in the back of my Odyssey. It hung out just a bit. I secured the lift handle on the kayak to the hook part of the tailgate latch so it would not slide out.sm*****r01
I bought TWO of these for my sons and they love them.

Ordered online last night and picked up today. The price was great but for something over 100 dollars. I believe everyone wants an almost flawless product. It had a few dents they said it shouldn't affect anything. So I put my trust in them. I'm glad I did. It's really stable and easy to learn in a few minutes. I'm new to kayaking. I want to thank the employees at Dick's sporting goods for serving me in this pandemic.

My wife and I owned cheaper kayaks from a department stores and making the switch to these mad a huge difference. They just work on the water much better and are lighter

I bought this kayak for my husband... we currently had to sit on kayaks, but I wanted something more sturdy that we could take into Lake Erie. My husband does a lot of fishing so he wanted pole holders and different storage compartments for his stuff. I reviewed many kayaks from different stores and different price levels, good for the price point I found this one to be the best. It has a water bottle holder not a cup holder... a regular cup holder would be better. Regardless that handles great in the water. It's very light and easy to maneuver. We've had in the water for quite a few hours already, and being a brand new kayak we tested it... turning, stopping, letting the wind blow you, tilting side-by-side, standing up in it... I would absolutely 100% recommend this kayak. I am impressed by its stability and handling. Even my ten-year-old daughter did great in it, it was not too much for her to handle. As I mentioned before, the only thing I would have liked would be a better cup holder.

My friend and I each bought a Pelican Mustang 100Xkayak. (we are both 68 yrs old) Couldn't be happier. It has great features, esp the two rod fishing pole holders, the two storage holders are terrific, the included removeable zippered storage bag is very roomy, the stability is super great, they paddle well, they track well, they are light weight at 39lbs and 10', there is a smart phone holder with bungee (we do place our phones in plastic baggies also to keep water out) but it keeps your phone handy right in front of you for quick picture taking. The knee pads are moveable to accommodate different body types, the adjustable back rest seems very comfortable even with your life jacket on. The price point is very reasonable. We both just love them, haven't found a \"con\" yet.
