Wish it had better carry handles in the middle of the boat.

I have another 10' Pelican kayak and love it. It has front and rear hatches that latch down secure and convenient bungee straps along the sides for quickly stowing the paddle. It's also very lightweight and has become my principal boat. So, needing another one of the same size and type (river/marsh/lake kayak), I spotted this and decided to order one online. I don't regret the purchase, but do feel this is a slightly cheapened version of the other one I have. The hull design and material are the same, but the storage on this one isn't quite as large or solid as the other one. It's nice to have the phone and rod holders, but if the boat tips the phone will fall in and the rod holders are behind you and inconvenient to reach. There is also no place to stow your paddle if you are trying to use a rod. Still, it's a nice little boat for the money, really easy to paddle, fairly zippy and super light.

New to the sport and was looking for something to do with my kids. Decided this kayak fit our needs. Have used it on a couple of brief outings in the waterway and like it. Tracks straight and seems very stable. My son keep lunging to one side to drag his hand in the water and it never felt unstable (he is 8 ). It also seemed to paddle a little easier than I expected with just me doing the work. It is heavy as one would expect but manageable. Would recommend for anyone looking for a tandem on a tight budget.

I bought this kayak about 3-4 weeks ago and have used it several times already. A few of those times for 6 straight hours without getting out. I got mine on sale for $300 but would have gladly paid the normal asking price.

Happy with the purchase. Demands 5 stars because the comfort vs price point. Only kayak sub $500 with a standalone seat. Some things could be better such as the rod holders angle are a little steep, can cause some reels to get wet while paddeling; bungee construction could be better. One of my bungees came out of the hole it anchors in; they gave me 10% off so i'll deal with it. Very happy none the less- would definitely recommend.

I bought this beauty at Dick's Sporting Goods, Parasmus NJ, about 3 weeks ago. The following weekend, I put it on the Delaware river, kayaking almost 40 miles from Port Jervis NY down to Portland PA. Camped overnight. I weigh 190 Lbs, and I carried all my camping gear and water (about 30 Lbs total). Very stable, tracks well, surprisingly solid build quality (especially when you consider the price). It was able to handle class II rapids fairly easy. At this price point there isn't a lot of competition for the pelican mustang. This is THE PERFECT recreational kayak for a beginner/casual kayaker, fisherman. At just 39 Lbs dry, this thing has been easy to carry and load/unload from car, even for an average person like me. If you are a beginner, looking for that affordable first kayak and don't want to compromise on quality and don't want to spend a fortune, this is your kayak. I'm extremely happy with this product.
